Suikoden Overview

Suikoden is a traditional turn based role playing game that was created by Konami and was released for the Sony Playstation 1 in late 1996. This game is a cult classic that has spawned multiple sequels. The shining feature of this game is the extremely large cast of playable characters that keep combat interesting throughout your play through. The only complaint that I could come up with is that the large cast of characters means that some are underdeveloped.

Final Fantasy 4 is a turn based role playing game that was originally released for the Super Nintendo. The main story follows the character, Cecil, as he turns from a dark knight into a heroic white knight. Today this game may seem to be a cardboard cut out of every other turn based role playing game, but this was one of the first. Overview

Arc the Lad Collection Overview

Arc the Lad Collection is an impressive compilation of four games. This role playing game in the tactics style is composed of many classic games that have proved to stand the test of time. The combat is similar to games such as Final Fantasy Tactics or Tactics Ogre, but with less complex game mechanics. Combat allows characters to jump over friends or enemies and permits the player to execute multiple combo attacks with multiple characters. While the first game in the collection has no towns or non player characters to interact with the later games added these features as well as a guild that quests may be chosen from. While this collection is a fantastic deal for fans of tactics style games it leaves a lot to desire for anyone who is not a fan of the genre.
