Legend of Dragoon Overview
Legend of Dragoon is a turn based role playing game that had a unique combat system compared to similar games in the genre. In Legend of Dragoon the turn based combat system is active and the player must preform different attacks by completing timed combos. This combat system is very active and keeps the player interested and feeling satisfied after completing one of these combos. The characters also sport interesting character models and have decent voice actors for their moves. The story was a little weak but overall this game can be a lot of fun and offers something different compared to similar games.

Suikoden Overview
Suikoden is a traditional turn based role playing game that was created by Konami and was released for the Sony Playstation 1 in late 1996. This game is a cult classic that has spawned multiple sequels. The shining feature of this game is the extremely large cast of playable characters that keep combat interesting throughout your play through. The only complaint that I could come up with is that the large cast of characters means that some are underdeveloped.

Wild Arms Overview
Wild Arms is a wild west themed RPG that was released for the Sony Playstation 1 in early 1997. While this game is a little dated by today’s standards, it was the first in its series and set the stage for the rest of the series which has grown to gargantuan proportions today. If you are truly a hardcore RPG fan than this is a must play for you!

Wild Arms 2 Overview
Wild Arms 2 is a game where the player controls several characters at the same time from a top down perspective. The player fights monsters and solves simple puzzles in order to progress through a mostly linear story progression. Overall Wild Arms 2 is a successful sequel to the popular Wild Arms game and is worth playing if you are a fan of the multiple character genre of RPGs.

Final Fantasy 4 Overview
Final Fantasy 4 is a turn based role playing game that was originally released for the Super Nintendo. The main story follows the character, Cecil, as he turns from a dark knight into a heroic white knight. Today this game may seem to be a cardboard cut out of every other turn based role playing game, but this was one of the first. The characters are appealing, the combat system is simple, the soundtrack is good, but there is no replayability and today the graphics are pretty dated.

Arc the Lad Collection Overview
Arc the Lad Collection is an impressive compilation of four games. This role playing game in the tactics style is composed of many classic games that have proved to stand the test of time. The combat is similar to games such as Final Fantasy Tactics or Tactics Ogre, but with less complex game mechanics. Combat allows characters to jump over friends or enemies and permits the player to execute multiple combo attacks with multiple characters. While the first game in the collection has no towns or non player characters to interact with the later games added these features as well as a guild that quests may be chosen from. While this collection is a fantastic deal for fans of tactics style games it leaves a lot to desire for anyone who is not a fan of the genre.

Chrono Trigger Overview
The word is coming apart as the evil LAVOS attempts to destroy history, undoing existence. Players take control of Crono and his pals as they adventure through different parts of history, fighting monsters and native fauna in an attempt to undo the damage that LAVOS has done to the time line. They also manage to acquire brand new weapons and party members while making their way through many memorable areas.

Chrono Cross Overview
Chrono Cross is an amazing RPG that was lauded as being ahead of it’s time. The game itself is a sequel to Chrono Trigger, but it has abandoned the ‘time travel’ theme. Instead, players take control of a young boy named ‘Serge’ who must set out on a quest to get the coveted ‘Frozen Flame’ as he jumps between alternate realities/dimensions with over 45 party members.

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night Overview
While it’s predecessor took place outside of the aptly named “Castlevania,” Symphony of the Night takes place entirely within the castle. It turns out that the hero of the previous game, Richter, has been possessed by an evil priest named Shaft. Players take control of Alucard, Dracula’s son, and a girl named Maria as they set out to free Richter and find out what is going on inside the evil castle.
